I don’t have a home, I don’t have a family. But, I do have a heart and I do have a life. Just like you, I want to be alive. I want to be happy, and I want to be accepted.

Just a Community Cat?

It's about a Community Cat - a cat that was either dumped or abandoned by its owners and struggled to make its way in the outside world. A Sassy Cat friend found her and got her into the carrier. Sassy Cats TNR found her a rescue that will give her love, grooming, good food to fill in her ribs. A medical check and she will be ready for a real forever home. Networking with our fellow cat lovers saves lives! And, it seems he was never fixed. More to come on this case...

His tail was missing.

This sweet community cat has suffered a traumatic amputation of part of his tail. No one at the apartment complex where he lives notified us until the back half turned black and fell off. He is going to the clinic at the Veterinary School on Thursday. And, it seems he was never fixed. Although Buddy’s tail had to be amputated, he recovered very quickly, was returned to the apartment complex where everyone knows him and he has a feeder and gets lots of petting and chin scratches. He is a happy cat, and the community loves having him back home. He even snuggles on the feeder’s lap sometimes while they are sitting outdoors, but he won’t go inside.

Hurting in the heat

We called her Midnight Lady. It was during the height of the hot weather with temperatures around 118 degrees. Her feeder noticed the horrible injury to her face and reached out for help. He was leaving on a business trip and was worried about her survival and wanted her trapped before he left. When Sassy Cats took on her case, we didn’t have half the story. Midnight was trapped, and upon trapping was found to be almost completely blind. She was so terrified in that trap. We were so worried about returning her to the colony. But a conversation with the person feeding revealed that Midnight was never alone... She had a sibling that for some reason always stayed by her side. When we told the feeder she was blind they were stunned. Midnight was taken for medical care, she had been TNR’d some years ago. She was checked over and found to be suffering from insect bites and her scratching to relieve the itching. The vet confirmed her blindness and said nothing could be done for it. Midnight stayed for several days with a loving trapper who wanted to make sure she got well. We also got in touch with the feeder who agreed to clean up the area to avoid the bugs. Sassy Cats was also able to pay for the medical bills which would have been a burden on her feeder. But Midnight was turning in to a loving cat. She enjoyed the cool temps, the good food and soft bed. After her time healing at the trapper’s loving home, she is headed for a loving, furrever inside home through a wonderful rescue.

Anna’s Story - the story of many

Anna lives in a subsidized senior apartment complex. Like too many of these facilities, she can not have a pet. But Anna’s love for animals found a common outlet. She started to care for the nearly starving cats that were digging through dumpsters on the property. Even though it risked eviction, she went on caring for the hungry and thirsty cats. Unfortunately, she had no money to get them spayed or neutered. The spring brought kittens, and that brought tragedy. Young kittens were hit by cars. This was traumatic to many of the residents as they all loved their community cats. Anna reached out to us, and we managed to trap and nueter the cats at her residence as well as the cats that hung out next door. We are also helping with the cost of feeding the cats. Now the cats are a healthy weight and living the good life among people who love them, and who need that connection with them.
